2012 Kimochi Spirit Awardee Video Introductions

The Kimochi Spirit Awards recognize individuals and corporations that inspire with their leadership and unite community with their giving. They are ardent in their work to bring positive change – whether through acts of legislation, advocacy and counsel, or by lending a hand to help people find a better place.

Please see the links below for the video introductions for each of the 2012 Kimochi Spirit Awardees which was played during the Kimochi Spirit Awards on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas near San Francisco’s Japantown. Special thanks to Rick Quan Productions!

Kimochi Video Introduction
Kimochi is a non profit organization in San Francisco's Japantown. For the last 41 years it has provided seniors, housing, transportation and affordable meals. The slogan of Kimochi is "Continuing the Japanese tradition of providing care and support for Seniors".



Norman Mineta Video Introduction
Former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta was among those honored at the Kimochi Spirit Awards May 12, 2012 at the Kabuki Sundance theater in San Francisco. After being interned as a young boy, Mineta went on to become the first Asian American mayor of a major U.S. city and the first AA cabinet member serving under both Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.



Congressman Mike Honda Video Introduction
U.S. Representative Mike Honda was one of five honorees at the Kimochi Spirit Awards, May 12, 2012 at the Kabuki Sundance theater in San Francisco. Honda has been an educator for 30 years and been involved in public service for more than 40 years.



Anna Sawamura Higaki Video Introduction
Anna Sawamura was one of five honorees at the Kimochi Spirit Awards held May 12, 2012 at the Kabuki Sundance theater in San Francisco. Anna has been with Kimochi since 1986. While she works mostly behind the scenes, Anna has become the backbone of the organization.



Yoneo "Bo" Yoshimura Video Introduction
Bo Yoshimura was one of five honorees at the Kimochi Spirit Awards held May 12, 2012 at the Kabuki Sundance theater in San Francisco. Bo was cited for his years of volunteer work. He passed in 2010.



California Pacific Medical Center Video Introduction
California Pacific Medical Center was among the five honorees at the Kimochi Spirit Awards event on May 12, 2012 at the Kabuki Sundance theater in San Francisco. CPMC has worked with with Kimochi in the past and hopes to continue that relationship in the future.
